ERMATANG PAUH, April 28 – PKR’s Permatang Pauh by-election candidate Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has assured voters in Permatang Pauh that her post as party president would enable her to give orders to PKR members to look after her constituency in her absence. Therefore, she says the issue of her inability to serve the people in Permatang Pauh should not arise. She added that she even had the right to order her deputy, Mohamed Azmin Ali, to represent her, especially in Kajang.
“I am the president and my deputy is the Selangor Mentri Besar. “So there is no problem looking after Kajang,” she said after a ceramah in Masjid Saidina Abu Bakar in Taman Guar Perahu and meeting the Kubang Pasu Chinese community earlier. Dr Wan Azizah was asked if she could juggle the various tasks and responsibilities in both the state seat of Kajang, where she is the assemblyman, and the Permatang Pauh parliamentary seat, if she wins in the May 7 by-election.
Previously, Mohamed Azmin had told a ceramah two days ago that he was asked by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on nominations day how Dr Wan Azizah was going to juggle her time for the folks of Kajang as well as those in Permatang Pauh. Dr Wan Azizah admitted that she would not be able to carry out her responsibilities by herself and would need assistance.
In a ceramah last night in Kampung Permatang Tengah, Dr Wan Azizah said PKR was not taking Permatang Pauh lightly. “My husband has been jailed, so it is a serious matter.” She also admitted that she felt disturbed by the slogan used by Barisan Nasional candidate Suhaimi Sabudin candidate, “Melakar Sejarah Baru” (Creating A New History), as she said history was something that could not be changed in Permatang Pauh.
