BUKIT MERTAJAM, April 30 – Despite the cry by Penang Pas Youth that their counterparts in PKR still owe them an apology, PKR national Youth deputy chief Dr Afif Bahardin remains non-committal on the matter. Dr Afif today refused to comment when asked if the wing was contemplating to issue an apology as demanded by the state Pas Youth.
“I have nothing to say…no comment,” he said before rushing off with PKR president and also its candidate for the Permatang Pauh by-election Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail at a dinner gathering organised by the party today. On Wednesday, Pas Youth caved in to the pressure to end their boycott against PKR in the Permatang Pauh by-election campaign and announced that they would mobilised their election machinery following instruction from Pas national leadership.
However, Penang Pas Youth chief Mohd Yusni Md Piah had stressed that the wing was still demanding an apology from Penang PKR Youth for issuing “disrespectful” statement against Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang. The call for an apology was also supported by Pas deputy spiritual leader Datuk Ahmad Yakob. Ahmad was quoted by a report as saying that it was fair for the PKR wing to apologise since they had made allegations against Hadi.
“If the allegations are false, it is fair for PKR Youth to apologise,” he was quoted as saying. Yesterday, Yusni announced that the state Pas Youth made a U-turn on its stand to boycott PKR in the by-election following their counterpart in state PKR Youth wing’s failure to issue an apology to Hadi before the April 25 deadline.
