GEORGETOWN, May 15 – Penang Deputy Chief Minister II Dr P. Ramasamy today just know that federal funds of the outcome of RM2.88 billion is to develop the local Indian community but there was no sign of the funds allocated between 2012 and 2014 were spent, he told a press conference at the meeting room of the state legislative assembly here today.
He said that the Finance Ministry’s Secretary-General of Treasury, Tan Sri Dr Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah reportedly said that the sum was allocated to Indian between 2012 and 2014 and there was another RM260 million will allocated on this year but we never received any money it.
“We are very surprised that we was doesn’t know about it. In the same time, we want to know what happen to the money and was it go to MIC and was it given to other Indian organisations and was the money hijacked?” Ramasamy ask the question during the press conference.
“It was necessary to learn where the funds were used to ensure that they reached those who needed it most. The Indian community still faces economic issues such as poverty, unemployment and lack of development,” he added.
