SEBERANG JAYA, May 27 – A real beauty lies in goodness of heart was held on today at Sunway Carnival Mall. Sunway Carnival Mall is definitely one of the business units that have been actively involved in Corporate Social Responsibility programmes throughout the years.
Sunway Carnival Mall are seeking to promote the welfare of others especially by giving out donation or contribution whether in monetary terms or not for a good cause, the founder of Sunway Group himself has cultivated the value to inspire philanthropic culture amongst corporations.
Ironically, that is how we got involved and organised many charitable events and campaigns to raise fund for the needy. Not in exception for Sekolah Pendidikan Khas Harapan (PEKTAS). On 31st of December 2014 in conjunction with our New Year Eve’s celebration, we have organised a fundraising campaign, ‘Indulge Yourself & Make A Difference’ to help the mentally retarded children and all donation collected will be channeled to them.
Today, Sunway Carnival Mall have visited Sekolah Pendidikan Khas Harapan (PEKTAS) to hand over a RM6,500 mock cheque them. The cheque was presented by Mr. Chow Heng Wah; General Manager of Sunway Carnival Mall to Madam Sukavani; the Principal of Sekolah Pendidkan Khas Harapan (PEKTAS) in hope that the contribution will do a little good for the 48 mentally retarded children aged 6 to 18 years old and 12 staffs.
Sekolah Pendidikan Khas Harapan PEKTAS (formerly named as Pusat Harian Tunas Harapan PEKTAS) is a non-profitable welfare organisation that requires heavily on public donation to persist. Their main objective is to provide basic foundation in terms of education, living skills and welfare aids to the mentally handicapped children in Seberang Perai Utara, Butterworth.
Presently, they are in the midst of constructing a new workshop for mentally retarded aged 18 years and above that are not a dependent anymore to provide them employment and training as they can hardly find a job. Therefore, public can make a little difference in their life by joining their Association For Mentally Retarded Children Centre Butterworth.
