KUALA LUMPUR, Jun 1 – Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan has dropped his RM50 million defamation suit against his jailed former employer, PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. The High Court judicial Commissioner Azizul Azmi Adnan recorded the order in his chambers today. Meanwhile, Mohd Saiful, 30, represented lawyer, Lawyer Zamri Idrus had informed the judge that the plaintiff (Saiful) wished to withdrew the civil suit in the High Court.
Mohd Saiful filed the suit on 23 June 2014 which seeking RM50 million in damages, citing physical trauma, agony and claimed Anwar had accused him of defaming and conspiring against Anwar by lodging a police report, alleging sodomy on 28 June 2008. He claimed among the others, Anwar had ruined his good name and reputation by alleging he meant to slander the politician by filing a police report over the sodomy incident.
Mohd Saiful also claimed that he never lied in the police report about having been sodomised by Anwar and that the last sodomy incident took place at Unit 11-5-1, Desa Damansara Condominium, No 99, Jalan Setiakasih, Bukit Damansara at about 3.01pm and 4.30pm on 26 June 2008. The High Court acquitted him of the charge but the Appeal Court overturned the decision and sentenced him to five years jail. Anwar is currently serving his sentence in prison after the Federal Court upheld the Appeal Court’s decision.
