GEORGETOWN, Jun 6 – It was truly a mesmerising cultural affair at Straits Quay Retail Marina as patrons were treated to a showcase of cultures and traditions of six beautiful countries at the “Around the World at Straits Quay” event on this weekend. We are celebrating each country’s of the diversity such as Japan, China, Korea, Italy, London and USA. The event was allowed visitors to experience and engage with each culture through its myriad of exciting activities.
Patrons were literally brought “around the world” as they experienced a potpourri of performances, food and cooking demonstrations, games and various activities of these countries. The crowd were welcomed by an energetic team of Chinese Wushu performers as the opening act, followed by a Japanese choir performance that received a standing ovation for their soulful voices.
Visitors of all ages thronged the booths selling Korean delicacies, Japanese snacks, American pies, sandwiches, desserts, books, ukuleles and souvenirs. The children had a gala time with the games at the ‘Circus Challenge’, ‘Cowboy Toss’ and ‘Sumo Time’ booths, and visitors also enjoyed donning traditional Chinese costumes at the photo booths.
“Around the World at Straits Quay presents a cultural exploration of the opportunity to all of our visitors which allowing all of families to experience the sights, sounds and tastes of the different cultures and traditions all in a place. Lastly, there were also have some performances like Taekwondo, cooking demonstrations and the announcement of lucky draw winners,” said Straits Quay Retail Marina Senior Manager, Amy Lee.
