GEORGETOWN, Jun 7 – Watsons Malaysia initiated its biggest fitness campaign to-date, entitled ‘Move Your Body – Zumba’. It is a follow-up to last year’s phenomenal success of its first edition of ‘Move Your Body’ with the special appearance of Jack Lim and Jeff Chin from MY FM popular announcer who danced the morning away with around 7 thousands of Zumba fans from different states at the majestic Esplanade this morning.
The event was attended by Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng. As the leader in the health and beauty retail industry, Watsons Malaysia is known to be the champion in spearheading innovative campaign to empower the community around us. Last year, through ‘Move Your Body’ campaign, Watsons Malaysia took a pledge to shape Malaysians by encouraging them to exercise, have the right health regime and ultimately lead healthier lives.
They have inspired both youth and adults to be part of the campaign and move their body for wellbeing. This biggest, fittest and the best ever Zumba party event was successfully held at Esplanade, Penang, Malaysia on 7 June 2015. A month-long campaign has ben planned leading to the final event.
Meanwhile, the major activities or promotion also started from 30 April 2015 – 5 June 2015 were the launched of ‘Move Your Body – Zumba’ Music video with MY FM popular announcers Jack Lim and Jeff Chin which included the Zumba dance tutorial by Zumba Fitness instructor Deno Au. The music video was broadcasted via various channels such as Watsons Malaysia YouTube channel, Watsons Malaysia Facebook, http://moveyourbody.com.my and all Watsons stores.
The event has seen people from all walks of lives dancing to the many tunes of Zumba for 90 minutes, in a feat to achieve the Malaysia Book Records. Other activities held included a hot air balloon ride, stilt walk and clowns walkabout, sampling counters from various suppliers, breakfast giveaways, blood donation, health screening by Watsons Pharmacists, interactive games and many more.
“Malysia has been rates as the highest among Asian countries for obesity. While an alarming 3.6 million adults are estimated to be affected by diabetes in Malaysia. For this reason, we encourage exercise and events promoting health. Besides that, instead an international and intelligent city can fulfill our aspirations only when it is clean, green, safe and healthy,” said Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng during the opening speech at the event.
“We have started ‘Move Your Body – Zumba’ campaign as part of Watsons continuous efforts to promote healthy living among Malaysia for over a month. Last year, we have the massive success with Watsons Move Your Body in Sunway Lagoon,” said Managing Director of Watsons Malaysia Kulvinder Birring.
“This year, we have decided to brought the event up north to this lovely island of Penang. Watsons Malaysia, together with all of you here today will leave a mark in the Malaysia Book of Record which the largest Zumba participation event ever held in Malaysia,” he added.
