GEORGETOWN, Jun 7 – Penang State Government are planning to donate an amount of RM100,000 to Sabah earthquake affected victim that struck Sabah on Friday. Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said the the proposal will be raised up on next week of executive council meeting as a sign of solidarity, sympathy and support for victims of the disaster.
“I would like to express my condolences to the families of the victims who are killed in the earthquake on Friday. It was a something very sad in the losses of life that especially to the victims who climbed up Mount Kinabalu. Meanwhile, the donation will be passed to an elected representative in Sabah to be distributed to the affected victims,” he told the reporters after presenting prizes to winners of the Komtar Tower Run 2015.
11 bodies were found in the Mount Kinabalu region yesterday which bringing the number of victim to 13 people while six climbers are still missing. The incident has occurred at 07:15am on Friday, 6.1N 116.6E with Magnitude 5.9 and Depth 54km, Borneo. 16km northwest of Ranau, Sabah are making the strongest earthquake ever experienced in Malaysia. Besides that, the moderate earthquake also felt in few areas such as Ranau, Tambunan, Pedalaman, Tuaran, K.Kinabalu, K.Belud, Sabah.
