KUALA LUMPUR, Jul 19 – The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has decided to block the Sarawak Report websites (http://www.sarawakreport.org) which can disrupt the stability of the country due to the display content is still uncertain authenticity and is under investigation after receiving information and complaints from the public.
In a statement Sunday, MCMC said the Sarawak Report website was blocked according with the existing provisions of Section 211 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. In the same time, the website will be blocked until the conclusion of the investigation conducted by the Task Force
Besides that, MCMC also would like to warn the public to be more cautious in the sharing information on social networking site, especially content that is uncertain authenticity which is also a probably false content. MCMC also said the the statement that we are fear that such content could create a state of unrest and subsequent threat to disrupt national stability, public order and economic stability.
