GEORGETOWN, Jul 31 – The Bayan Baru Public Market Complex is still plagued with problems after spend almost RM162,000 for the repairs just on this year. A seemingly endless at the 15-year-old building having the ailments varied which ranging from leaky gutters to pools of stagnant water.

Penang Island City councillor A. Kumaresan and council technical department representatives visited the building on July 28 and the repairs work will be initiated and complete on the next day which it had following on the inspection. Today, during a follow-up visit, leaks were still obvious and thanks to the downpour which happened along.

“I would instruct the contractor to start repair works immediately which can beseen it for myself and will make sure there’s follow-up on the matter. Besides that, there will be also no further payments to the contractor until the problems at hand were contained,” said Council secretary Ang Aing Thye after a visit to the market.
