GEORGE TOWN, Aug 5 – Penang Development Corporation (PDC) hosted of Hari Raya Open House at the PDC building yesterday with attended by the Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng with his wife YB Betty Chew, Penang Deputy Chief Minister II P Ramasamy, EXCO members, assembly members and councillors.
“I also understand that the PDC hashaving two programs of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) which organized jointly by the PDC Association of Muslim which employees by holding Program PDC PKI with you and Baju Raya Purchase Program Co Orphans of the Organisation of Al-Mahabbah jewel, Palangkaraya in Mydin, Bukit Jambul,” said Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.
The State Government will continue to implement sound corporate governance practices Competency, Accountability and Transparency (CAT) without bias to ensure the administration of the Penang state government to the clean of the negative elements. CM Lim suggest that PDC can continue to serve the citizens by applying the principles of CAT and the ‘Corporate Integrity Pledge’ which PDC in carrying out daily activities.
PDC with Invest Penang has managed to establish the Penang as a hub of industry, services and tourism. The tourism sector saw favorable development in Penang International Airport registered a growth of 10% in 2014. For investments it has increased by 110% from RM3.9 billion in 2013 to RM8.2 billion in 2014.
For a period of 7 years from 2008 to 2014, Penang has attracted investments of RM48.2 billion in 2014, an increase of 93% over the past 7 years of RM24.9 billion from 2001 to 2007. The investor confidence not only among the private individual but also attracted investments of government-owned companies abroad.
Meanwhile, PDC has also signed a joint venture agreement with Sime Darby, a company of GLC which to develop the Byram / Secretary in Seberang Perai Selatan to be the SME-Tech Industrial Park. The project worth almost RM3 billion. PDC also just signed a cooperation agreement with Temasek and EDIS worth RM1.3 billion to carry out projects in Bayan Baru Prime BPO to develop the services sector.
In the field of animation, PDC has also partnered with iP to establish Accelerator for Creativity, Analytics & Technology (CAT) for ‘tech start-up’ of $ 2 million which will be located in Wisma Yeap Chor Ee. All these initiatives augur well for Penang in the improvement of industrial technology. The State Government will continue to design programs that can be attract the tourists to continue visit the country.
