MUAR, Aug 7 – Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said today that he will not give up the position of Deputy President of UMNO for what had never violated the party constitution. He said he will not resign as deputy president because he will never made a mistake in the party.
“I’ve never been a threat to the country. I also never talk that may violate the party constitution. If anyone show me the evidence,” he said when the opening the Pagoh UMNO Division delegates meetings of Wanita UMNO, UMNO Youth and Puteri UMNO at the Pagoh Sports Complex here today.
Also present were his wife, Puan Sri Nooraini Abdul Rahman, Deputy Head of Division pagoh Ismail Mohamed, Head of Women UMNO Division pagoh Senator Datuk Noriah Mahat, UMNO Division Youth chief pagoh Zaid Abdul Rahman and Puteri UMNO Division Chief pagoh Rohaizah Ahmad.
Yesterday, the General UMNO Division of the Great River, Selangor Datuk Yunus Jamal reportedly asked Muhyiddin to relax and resigned as deputy president of UMNO. Muhyiddin was dropped as deputy prime minister in a cabinet reshuffle on 28 July. Muhyiddin, who is also Umno chief pagoh also disappointed when some UMNO is willing to withdraw the invitation to her to officiate at any meeting of the UMNO divisions.
He said he did not have any plans whatsoever to overthrow the government and that he should not be considered a threat to any party and state. He also requested that the parties provide a special body to investigate the issue 1 Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB). Muhyiddin also expressed his appreciation to all those who have supported him.
