KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 9 – Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Razak said the head of the party’s criticism on the issue of political funding. The Star newspaper reported, Najib said Umno division delegates Tun Razak that he do so in the interest of the party.
“Whatever I do as Umno president even if I had received the funding, all are to the party. I have helped some of the parts which including giving them a monthly allowance to manage their offices. Umno who had under my leadership has been doing a lot of corporate social responsibility (CSR) which send the people to fulfil the Hajj and repair dilapidated houses,” Najib said.
“What is happening is that they are silent, after they get the money, but when I attacked, everyone was silent. I was not an autocratic leader and not get surrounded ‘Yes men’. Strictly speaking, I could accept the differences of opinion, because it can give a different perspective. We can exchange ideas, even arguing in meetings, but when leaders make decisions, we need to support the party. We need to show a united front, “he said.
In the morning, the deputy president, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin expressed his concern over the specious members who fear letting their mistakes leaders make.
