KANGAR, Aug 23 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak hold a press conference during the opening of the conference groups representatives of the Division Padang Besar, Kangar and Arau in Council 2020 here on Sunday said that revenue from Goods and Services Tax (GST) to help the finance of the country when Malaysia faced with the falling oil prices.

“Fortunately, we have the GST, if there was no GST, of course our financial distress. Depressed because when oil prices drop, meaning reduced Petronas dividend, royalties decreased. From where we want to catch a lot of shopping. The implementation of the GST not to burden the people and he adheres to the principles ‘of our people will return to the people’,” he said.

“I have also promised to the people that (result) of additional GST. In the same time, we will show in the next budget which way we spend extra money. The problem arises when the GST in respect of traders who are not honest and manipulate the situation,” said Najib.

“As Shahidan (Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim) called traders to increased on GST but SST (Sales and Services Tax) it got repealed,” he said, adding that the GST is now implemented in 160 countries. In this regard, he urged the public to choose the dealer who is honest and not take a chance. We choose the place and the traders who sell goods at a reasonable price,” he said.
