Haze: Two Flights Cancelled While Six Flights Delayed



KUCHING, Sept 18 – The haze at Kuching causes two flights at Kuching International Airport (LTAB Kuching) to cancelled up to 10am on Thursday while six flight had been delayed. The airport’s manager, Mohd Nadzim Hashim said MASwings flights using the Twin Otter aircraft from Kuching-Tanjung Manis and Tanjung Manis-Kuching have been cancelled due to the haze.

“The cancellations involve seven passengers. Meanwhile, the hazy conditions affected two airlines to delays three flight departures at LTAB Kuching and to three flight arrivals. While it was causing the flight of the arrival delay to 430 passengers and flight departure delay to another 431 passengers. All passengers flying via LTAB Kuching are advised to check their flight schedules with the airlines they are flying with before going to the airport,” said Mohd Nadzim.

As at 11am on Thursday, the Air Pollutant Index (API) reading in Kuching was at 209, indicating very unhealthy air quality. Air quality with API readings of 0-50 is categorised as good, 51-100 (moderate), 101-200 (unhealthy), 201-300 (very unhealthy) and 301 and above (hazardous). The public can visit the DOE’s website at http://apims.doe.gov.my to know the current API readings in their areas.
