KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 19 – The air quality in the country due to the haze has improved, with only Balok Baru, Kuantan in Pahang recording unhealthy air as at 8 pm Saturday. According to Department of Environment’s (DOE) website, the Air Pollutant Index (API) reading in Kuantan was 101, while the API readings in other areas indicated moderate air quality.

An API reading of between zero and 50 indicates that the air quality is good; between 51 and 100, moderate; between 101 and 200, unhealthy; between 201 and 300, very unhealthy and 301 and above, hazardous. Members of the public can refer to the DOE portal at http://apims.doe.gov.my/v2/ for the latest API readings.
