KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 20 – UMNO Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin hold a press conference after launching the National Sports Day Sale at Mid Valley Megamall here on Saturday said the action must be taken against anyone including UMNO Youth members if they were found to break the laws during the ‘Himpunan Rakyat Bersatu’ in the city on Septy 16.
Khairy who is also Youth and Sports Minister said UMNO Youth members had never been disallowed from joining rallies or other activities all this while as long as no laws were broken. He said the important thing is if there is proof that any UMNO Youth member has broken the law, then action has to be taken against them.
There were thousands joined the ‘Himpunan Rakyat Bersatu’ rally which organised by the Malaysian Silat Federation (PESAKA) on Wednesday (Sept 16) is to show their displeasure over the Bersih 4 rally that was also been held in the city on Aug 29 and 30 last month.
They were unhappy that some of Bersih 4 rally participants had stomped on pictures of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang. In the same time, the rally was also to object against anti-government propaganda spread on the Internet besides calling for peace and harmony to prevail in the country.
On the disturbance at Petaling Street during the rally, Khairy it should be left to the police to investigate the matter. Some of the Red Shirts had tried to storm a police barricade there which to forced the police to use of the water cannons to disperse them at Petaling Street, Kuala Lumpur.
