KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 11 – It is not Barisan Nasional’s (BN) policy to have a single-stream education system, assured its chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak on Sunday. In delivering his speech at MCA’s 62nd annual general assembly (AGM), Najib reiterated that the party stands for multi-lingualism, multi-racial and multi-culturalism concepts.

Najib said that Malaysia are a great source of envy by other countries. In the meantime, he also pointed out that tough there were certain parties who wanted to abolish Chinese vernacular schools in favour of single-stream education, it was not Barisan’s policy to do so.

In recent days, following the Red Shirt Rally on Sept 16, there were also calls from several parties to abolish Chinese vernacular schools to revive the Malay dignity. In the same time, the Prime Minister also said the party rejects all forms of violent and racial extremism.
