KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 16 – Malaysia has been appointed by the World Health Assembly (WHA) Western Pacific member states as Vice President of the upcoming 69th WHA in Geneva, Switzerland. Acording to a statement from the Health Ministry, the appointment of Malaysia which was made unanimously at the 66th WHO Regional Committee Meeting for the Western Pacific Region in Guam, United States today is a recognition for its active role on the global health platform.
“Malaysia will be representing 37 member states from the Western Pacific region for the 69th WHA, which will be held next year. It is indeed a great honour and we will take this opportunity for Malaysia to pursue a bigger role in the global health arena. In the meantime, WHA which comprises of 194 member states is the highest decision-making body of the World Health Organization (WHO),” the statement said.
