Taxi Driver Charged In Sessions Court With Attempted Murder



KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17 – A taxi driver was charged in the Sessions Court here today with attempting to murder a man in Wangsa Maju last year. No plea was recorded from T. Ganesan, 44, as his lawyer, Noor Mousa Azaddin had requested the court for his client to be sent to Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta, Perak.

“My client has a history of mental illness. In regards to that, the defence requests that the accused be sent to Hospital Bahagia for a mental evaluation,” said Noor Mousa. Meanwhile, Judge Azman Mustapha was also granted that the request and fixed Nov 17 for re-mention pending the psychiatric assessment report.

The accused allegedly tried to mow down Azhari Mohd Yusoff, 41, in a Proton Saga car at the main gate of Tuanku Mizan Armed Forces Hospital in Wangsa Maju here, at 8.43 am on Oct 12 last year. Meanwhile, the charge under Section 307 of the Penal Code, carries a jail term of up to 20 years, upon conviction. Besides that, Deputy public prosecutor Nurul Asyiqin Zulkifli appeared for the prosecution.
