Health Ministry: Avoid Outdoor Functions If API Exceeds 100



PUTRAJAYA, Oct 22 – The Health Ministry said outdoor functions or activities must be avoided if the Air Pollutant Index (API) readings exceeds the unhealthy level of 100. Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a statement here on Wednesday that the events planned before the haze hit should be postponed or cancelled until the API improved.

He said they must still be held than shift it to indoors. He said the public must take preventive measures including reducing outdoor activities and wear suitable masks if venturing out, to protect their health. Meanwhile, he added they should also drink at least eight glasses of water daily and wash their hands and face with soap and water after outdoor activities.

He also added that those who have cough, running nose, asthma, eye ailments and lung infection should promptly go to the clinic if their conditions worsened. He said the preventive measures to reduce the effect of the haze on health could be obtained at the Health Ministry website at or
