KOTA KINABALU, Oct 22 – Sabah Bersih chairman Jannie Lasimbang was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here on Wednesday on two counts of organising an illegal assembly last August. On the first count, Jannie, 53, was charged with failing to give the 10-day notice to the police before holding the 4.0 Bersih assembly at Taman Awam Teluk Likas near here last Aug 29.

Meanwhile, she was also charged with committing a similar offence at the same place last Aug 30.However, she had been pleaded not guilty to both charges. While, Magistrate Cindy M Juce Balitus allowed her bail of RM3,000 on each charge, with a deposit of RM1,000 and a surety.

Besides that, the court had also set Nov 13 for case management and Nov 23 and 24 to hear the case. Deputy public prosecutor Chow Siang Kong prosecuted, while Jannie was represented by lawyers Ram Singh, Timothy Daud, Y S Lo and Luke Ressa Balang.
