Najib: Online Visa Application For Several Countries



KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 25 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the government will implement e-Visa by mid-2016 to facilitate tourists to the country. He said that the on-line visa application to be implemented will begin with China, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, the United States and Canada.

He said this in tabling Budget 2016 themed “Prospering the People” in the Dewan Rakyat here on Friday. To take advantage of the current position of the Ringgit and in an efffort to attract more tourists, he added that there were 100 per cent income tax exemption on statutory income for tour operators would be extended from the 2016 year of assessment until 2018.

In the same time, the government is targeting 30.5 million tourists who are expected to contribute an estimated RM103 billion to the national economy on 2016. For this purpose, RM 1.2 billion has been also allocated to the Ministry of Tourism and Culture.
