GEORGE TOWN, Nov 12 – The Penang state government had been launched BPS COMM HELP, a mobile application (Apps) to ensure maximum safety and security of those living in the state. The Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng in announcing the bureau in a media conference here on Wednesday said BPS was a restructuring of the government service delivery system through the Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) for better safety of the people.

Also were present by DPM I YB Dato’ Haji Mohd Rashid Bin Hasnon and also Chairman of the State Welfare, Caring Society and Environment Committee YB Phee Boon Poh. In the meantime, Lim said that the implementation was in line with Community Policing as promoted by the Royal Malaysia Police to support police curb crimes. Besides that, sate executive councillor Phee Boon Poh also said that the Apps would go live by Jan 1.

BPS members are expected to be given a new uniform with a redesigned logo and epaulettes. However, the purple colour of the uniform has been retained. BPS may offer a smartphone application for the public to send distress messages during emergencies such as floods, fires and crime. Lim had given an inkling of BPS when he tabled the state 2016 Budget last week.
