PARIS, Nov 14 – At least 100 people have been killed inside the Bataclan concert hall where attackers seized hostages, police officials say. The two attackers holding the hostages have been killed by elite police commandos in a raid. The majority of the dead are believed to be at a rock gig where two armed men slaughtered revellers and took a further 100 hostage in scenes described as “carnage”. Police tonight said the two hostage takers who held theatregoers at the concert venue were killed.
During the police assault, witnesses reported hearing five successive explosions followed by gunshots around the venue. Earlier, officials said at least 15 people had been killed inside the building in the 11th arrondissement. Two suicide bomber are believed to have carried out attacks and while there was an explosion near the Stade de France stadium as the French national team played Germany in a friendly game.
France has closed its borders and President Francois Hollande has declared a state of emergency. The French capital was under siege as a lone gunman opened fire inside a busy restaurant, mowing down 11 diners and leaving bodies strewn in “a pile” in front of survivors.
