MUAR, Nov 30 – UMNO deputy president, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today said he was willing to be sacked from the party if it was true that he had committed a serious wrong. The Pagoh member of Parliament, however, contended that what he had done after no longer being deputy prime minister, was not in violation of the party rules and discipline.

“If it’s true that I’ve done a big wrong, I’m willing to be sacked. It’s alright. But what I’ve done is voicing out what I feel is true. Whatever it is, don’t do this (sack) to a member who has sacrificed for decades for the party, hopefully,” Muhyiddin said this in his speech at a gathering in support of him, held at the Seri Pekembar Complex in Pagoh here on Sunday.

At the gathering here on Sunday, Muhyiddin who is also the Pagoh UMNO division chief, received a memorandum that are supporting him from 106 branches in the division which was handed to him by their representative, Datuk Samat Aripin. Muhyiddin said whatever happened, he would remain a loyal member of UMNO.

He added that to let him be ‘chopped’ and ‘beheaded’, he will still be loyal to UMNO. Earlier, when closing the Zone 20 Dengue-Prevention Campaign programme in Panchor town, Pagoh, Muhyiddin said there was nothing at all in his heart to destroy UMNO although he was no longer in government. He said he remained protective of the party which he had been upholding for more than 40 years now.

“Please don’t link me to any move to destroy UMNO as I have accepted what happened to me with calmness. I am an UMNO person. My soul and struggle are with UMNO. What he was struggling for now was also to ensure UMNO would not lose in the next general election and would continue to receive big support from the voters,” he said.
