GEORGE TOWN, Dec 2 – Police are investigating the Facebook account Penangkini owner which spreading the false information in connection with a fights incident happened on the ferry on November 12, 2015, said Northeast district police chief ACP Mior Faridalatrash Wahid in the press conference yesterday.

He said the investigation was conducted following by a report received from a man who did not satisfied the report who made by the owner of Penangkini in the Facebook account. He said that based on police reports, the individual claimed that Penangkini had uploaded a photograph of three men were detained by police over fights incident happened on the ferry while they were not involved in the incident.

He added that police will cooperated with Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC)  to track the account owner while the case was being investigated under Section 500 of the Penal Code. The incident was happened at 9.45pm on November 12, a 38-year-old ferry’s crew were injured in the face and left rib fractures after being hit by a group of men.

Following the incident, the police arrested two college students to assist in the investigation and also detected several other individuals believed to be involved in the incident. In the meantime, Mior also warned that the Facebook accounts owners (Penangkini) in order to stop the spread of false news, included to obtaining the information from the right sources to avoid the public confusion.
