KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 11 – The UMNO Malaysia Welfare Bureau, in collaboration with the 1Malaysia Putra Club and the Selangor Four-Wheel-Drive (4X4) Club have organised a five-day four-wheel-drive Malaysia-Thailand (Yala) Adventure charity convoy beginning Friday.
Bureau chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim said the convoy, participated by about 80 4X4 vehicles, would distribute schooling aid to those who were in need in three states namely Perak, Kedah, and Yala (Thailand). He said the aid in the form of school uniforms and writing paraphernalia will certainly inspire the children to acquire knowledge in schools.
He also added that the particularly to the residents of Yala who are seen as in dire need of such aid. He said this at the flagging-off ceremony at the Putra World Trade Centre here on Friday. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who is also UMNO president, and vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein jointly flagged off the convoy.
