PUCHONG, Dec 24 – A basic safety and workplace emergency management training module will be introduced at all 321 Mara activity centres next year. Giatmara Malaysia chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Rosdi Ismail said the new module, designed by Giatmara and the Civil Defence Department, would cover basic safety, proper use of protective equipment, rescue methods and teamwork in responding to an emergency situation at work.
“This new module is an improved version of the one now used in Giatmara training sessions. Trainees need to pass the course using the new module which will be conducted over a week. Over 10,000 Giatmara trainees of the January intake would follow the programme,” he said.
He said this at a press conference after Giatmara and the department signed a memorandum of understanding. The department was represented by its director-general, Ogu Salim Omar. Successful trainees will be presented a certificate recognised by the department.
