GEORGE TOWN, Dec 30 – Deputy Minister of Education Chong Sin Woon hold a press conference today said they will giving the full transfer funding to all the school in Penang State. Meanwhile, Chong also urged the school to maintenance of school facilities by using the relevant funding while also urged the school to presenting the relevant maintenance reports to Education Bureau (EDB).
“In the meantime, the Ministry of Finance has been presenting recommendations to the Ministry of Education which the treasury will also stop for the funding applications related to the school if the school did not presenting their school facilities maintenance reports after received the funding,” Chong said after attending to the mock cheque presentation ceremony at Komtar Lot 33 Convention and Exhibition Center, here, today.
Chong Sin Woon repeatedly stressed that funding must be immediately use when school received, while it can not be reduced to other bank account which is not allowed. He said main of the Department of Education provides funding to schools is used to maintenance of all types of existing school facilities, but not allow for the construction of new school buildings or other facilities, so he hopes that the school can make good use of these funds which are provided by the Ministry of Education.
In the meantime, he also hope that the schools do not compare the obtained funding due to the Ministry of Education is in accordance with the school’s needs and apply for funding to determine the number, and if a high amount of funding made by the school concerned, then the next year will not get such a large amount of funding.
In addition, he also said that the Minister of Education has announced that the funding in 2016 will allocated on March, so he hope that all school boards and school authorities can complete the 2016 school funding applications as soon as possible by January. Until today, Chong said they had special allocated RM8,925,000 under the Budget 2015 to 80 Chinese primary schools, 12 Chinese secondary schools and 31 mission schools.
