GEORGE TOWN, Jan 22 – Malaysia’s mixed doubles pair Tan Kian Meng and Lai Pei Jing fought his way into the Grand Prix (GP) Gold Malaysia Masters semi-finals after beating Keigo Sonoda and Naoko Fukuman of Japan mixed doubles pair at the Arena Spice, here, today. They took 36 minutes to defeat their opponent 21-10, 21-15 in the quarterfinal match.
“I feel happy and excited after beating Japan mixed doubles pair who seeded above us. I was very surprise that we can in straight sets to move into semifinals. The unexpected win pits them against compatriots Chan Peng Soon and Goh Liu Ying in the semi-finals tomorrow. Against Peng Soon and Liu Ying, we will have to bring out our best,” said Pei Jing.
“Besides that, I hope that there will not be any changes for our two partnership. We have been started our partnership three months ago, have done well to enter the Malaysia Masters Grand Prix Gold semi-finals. I like Kian Meng’s attitude even though he is new in the event. I enjoy partnering with him,” she said.
Meanwhile, Pei Jing said, although Chan Peng Soon is a very experienced player while Tan Aik Kuan and Kian Meng are both attacking players with good court coverage but she still prefer to stay partnership with Kian Meng because Kian Meng is younger and fitter.
