Liow Hopes For Continued Cooperation From Airline Industry Players

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 25 – Interested parties in the airline industry are advised to continue cooperating in driving the growth of the sector, said Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai. He said the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA), Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad and the airline companies must cooperate in the efforts to boost the country’s airline route ecosystem especially at the international stage.

He said Malaysian airline routes have shown an encouraging improvement in the past few years and he is very happy with the growth of passenger movement in the country at our airports. He said tis in a statement here on Sunday. It was released in conjunction with the inaugural flight of AirAsia for the Guangzhou, China – Langkawi route here on Sunday (Jan 24).

The flight had brought in guests including representatives from the Guangdong Tourism Authority and media practitioners. Liow said it was a historic moment for the Malaysian airline industry besides proving the rapid growth of the national airline companies. He was also happy with the increase in the number of passengers going to Langkawi from 1.4 million in 2011 to 2.3 million passengers in 2015.
