Kek Lok Si Temple Launches Lighting Ceremony And Display Of Lights 2016
GEORGE TOWN, Feb 5 – Kek Lok Si lighting ceremoy with fireworks display which happen on this evening, 4 February 2016 together with the Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng. Also present were Penang State Tourism Development & Culture YB Danny Law Heng Kiang and wife.
The 125-year-old Kek Lok Si Temple in Air Itam turned into a fairyland as thousands of colourful lights set the temple aglow. An air of festivity pervaded all over the temple’s official lighting ceremony as thousands of visitors flocked from near and far to witness the annual event aimed at welcoming the Chinese New Year.
Former temple abbot Reverend Datuk Seri Seck Jit Heng said in his speech on Thursday, “Kek Lok Si Temple hospital will begin the construction on this year which the Ministry of Health has been approved the Kek Lok Si Temple hospital plan on last year. Until now, we had yet to built because we use a year’s time to consider the practical issues of the hospital.”
“The plan of the building will be submitted to Penang City Town Hall on March. If everything goes well, the building will be start to construction on this year and expected to be complete between 4 years. Kek Lok Si Temple hospital cost RM50 million,” said Datuk Seri Seck Jit Heng.
Datuk Seri Seck Jit Heng also added that the the temple would be lit up until March 6 while time as below:
- From Feb 8 till Feb 16 – opened to the public till 12:00am
- From Feb 17 till Feb 20 – opened to the public till 10:00pm
- From Feb 21 till Feb 22 – opened to the public till 12:00am
- From Feb 23 till March 6 – opened to the public till 10:00pm
