GEORGE TOWN, Feb 14 – The Penang Road Transport Department (RTD) will take legal action against any quarters that linked the department with the death of the businessman Syed Amen Jaizul Abidin, who was fatally shot in an incident on last Thursday.
Penang RTD director Noorul Habib Abdul Guduse said the department was looking into a claim which linked Syed Amen’s death to an incident at the lobby of the Batu Uban RTD office in Batu Gelugor, where a recording of it had become viral on the social media.
“In the meantime, our officers are also studying all evidence, including a recording of a media conference by a non-governmental organisation which accused that RTD of being involved in Syed Amen’s death. While, we will also lodge a police report soon,” he said.
He told this to the reporters after an operation held in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration here Friday night. Syed Amen, 46, the owner of a car wash and Nasi Kandar restaurant, was shot dead outside a shop lot, in front of a high-powered motorcycle shop, along Jalan Dato Keramat here at about 3.30 am last Thursday.
