GEORGE TOWN, Feb 15 – Penang State will not approve any land transfer involving 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB), said Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng. He said the Federal Government and housing developers can bid for the 94.7ha land in Air Itam but warned that the state would not approve it.
“Don’t play with us, I have given multiple warnings which the state would not approve any land transfer involving 1MDB. Meanwhile, I hope company and individuals bidding for the land will remember that any transaction involving it will not be approved. I hope they can be aware on it,” Lim said after officiating the Asia Green QuayWest Residence ground breaking ceremony here on Saturday.
He was commenting on a report by The Star’s on Friday regarding two Penang-based companies short-listed from a tender exercise were a joint venture between the Ideal Property and BSG groups, and a company related to Goh Choon Lye, a well-known developer in the state, to buy over the development of 9.47 ha land in Air Itam from 1MDB.
