Faiz Subri Rewarded RM10,000 From Penang State Govt
GEORGE TOWN, Feb 18 – Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) through the Penang State Government rewarded RM10,000 to the footballer (Penang Player) Mohd Faiz Subri, 29, after footage of his sensational free kick went viral around the world.
The contribution was announced by the Penang Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng witnessed by the Football Association of Penang (FAP) coach Jacksen F Tiago, President of FAP, Datuk Seri Nazir Ariff Mushir Ariff, wife of Mohd Faiz, Nor Zawanis Hashim and some other Exco.
Guan Eng said the reward was in recognition of the best achievements Mohd Faiz to create a free-kick which is treated as a magical goal that got the attention of the world. He said this is also the first time a Malaysian footballer has received global fame for the right reasons.
He told this to the reporters at his office in Komtar here this afternoon. Mohd Faiz made a surprise when he does the free-kick from 35 meters, curved into the net goal in the match against Pahang in the Malaysian Super League, which was held at Penang City Stadium on Tuesday night.
