GEORGE TOWN, Feb 18 – Penang Island City Council (MBPP) has confirmed the total number of trees which will be involved in the road widening project along Jalan Masjid Negeri is 16 out of 33.

MBPP deputy director of Engineering Department A. Rajendran said the age of the trees who involve are between 35-40 years old and definitely not over a hundred years as claimed by Consumers’ Association of Penang (CAP) members which held a peace demonstration on Tuesday.

He said that the trees involved would be transplated from their current location to the land which owned by Penang State Government. He told this to the reporters at Penang Chief Minister office, Komtar, here this afternoon.
