KUALA LUMPUR, March 16 – World Junior 2011 Champion, Zulfadli Zulkiffli and Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin is through to the second round of the Swiss Open Grand Prix Gold at St Jakobshalle, Basel. Zulfadli easily smashed down Algeria’s Adel Hamek in straight sets of 21-11 and 21-9, early Wednesday (Malaysian time), according to the Badminton World Federation’s tournament website at http://bwf.tournamentsoftware.com.
However, he faces an uphill task in the second round tonight against tournament second seeded, Chou Tien-Chen of Chinese Taipei. Iskandar who struggled before edging Scott Evans of Ireland 18-21, 23-21 and 21-11, will take on Muhammad Bayu Pangisthu of Indonesia in the second round.
Meanwhile, 20-year-old Soong Joo Ven defeated Switzerland’s Anthony Dumartheray 21-10 and 21-16 to challenge Wang Tzu Wei of Chinese Taipei.
