Almost Three Hundreds Attended Street Demonstration Against Guan Eng

GEORGE TOWN, March 25 – Almost three hundreds people rom Barisan Nasional (BN), non-governmental organisation (NGOs) and the red shirts attended the street demonstration against the Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng which was held at Taman Manggis here after Friday prayers this afternoon. The demonstration had called for Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng to step down.

The protester were held up placards and banner at the protest, which read; “Tak Mahu Hospital Swasta! Mahu Rumah Murah!” (Don’t want Private Hospital! Want Cheap Home!); “Lim Guan Eng CM Paling Kejam Dalam Malaysia” (CM Lim Guan Eng are most cruel in Malaysia); “Lim Guan Eng wajib berhenti terus merampas hak rakyat termiskin” (Lim Guan Eng should quit immediately, he is taking away the rights of the hardcore poor) and more.

Meanwhile, they were also shouted “Turun Guan Eng” (quit Guan Eng), “Hidup Rakyat”(Rise people) and “Undur Guan Eng” (step down Guan Eng) and held placards to vent their anger against Lim for not attending the unresolved cheap housing woes issue here. 

Those who took turns to speak to the public for about 15 minutes were Penang Umno Youth chief Rafizal Abdul Rahim, Penang Perkasa Youth chief Mohd Rizuad Mohd Azudin and state BN Youth chief Hng Chee Wey who condemned Lim for ignoring the need of Penangites to build cheap housing.

The police officer in charge ordered the group to stop at 2.45pm while police also gave in some extra time after certain people begged for extra time to speak out. The group dispersed at about 3pm after they sang patriotic song “Inilah Barisan Kita” to wrap up the demonstration.
