KUALA LUMPUR, Apr 5 – Part of the external roofing of a restaurant at Mid Valley mall here collapsed this morning at about 9.30am caused eight people were injured. The roof is believed to have collapsed following a gas explosion. City Fire and Rescue Department said it had received an information on the incident at 10.21am, Tuesday. After received the call, he said they have dispatched a fire engine and eight personnel from the Pantai Fire Station to the scene.
The ceiling of a restaurant on the ground floor of Mid Valley Megamall had collapsed caused eight people suffered minor injuries and have been sent to a nearby hospital. Mid Valley Megamall has confirmed that several maintenance staff were injured following minor explosions at the complex.
“During reinstatement work to our liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) system after maintenance works, we had minor explosions at two food and beverage outlets. There were minor injuries to our maintenance staff, LPG contractor and tenant staff. Medical treatment is already being given,” it said.
“There were no fatalities, neither were there any injuries to the public. We are working with the relevant authorities and have shut all the gas systems in Mid Valley Megamall until further notice. The mall is operating as usual and the affected area had been cordoned off to ensure public safety,” it said. It also confirmed that the mall would remain open to visitors.
