GEORGE TOWN, Apr 7 – State executive councillor Dr Afif Bahardin lodge a report at Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) here this morning at 10am against the land sale that belonged to the Penang Regional Development Authority (PERDA) in Kampung Tok Keramat, Seberang Perai Selatan was sold at below market price.
“I would like to name PERDA chairman and Tasek Gelugor Member of Parliament Datuk Shabudin Yahaya as the person responsible for the sale of land at below market price. We believe there are elements of breach of trust whereby PERDA’s assets meant for the people was sold at below market price. Meanwhile, we also want the MACC to investigate and find out the real issue behind the sale as this involves public interest,” he told reporters before lodging the report at the MACC here.
On April 1, Shabudin told a press conference that PERDA sold the the land at a price of RM1.4 million on condition the developer built more low-cost and affordable houses priced between RM42,000 and RM72,000. According to the assessment of the Inland Revenue Board (IRB), Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng had reportedly said that the value of the 3.4 hectares of land was RM16.6 million.
He said PERDA on the sale of the land at RM1.4 million last year, causes RM15.2 million loss. He told that this is the serious issue that involving public interest, not in privately. In additional, Afif, who is also Seberang Jaya State Assemblyman also urged Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to intervene since PERDA is an agency under the federal government and placed under the Prime Minister’s Department.
