MIRI, April 9 – The 1Malaysia Community programme will be revamped by highlighting the 1Malaysia Community for all in the state, said Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak. He said the Information Department would be given the responsibility to review the programme for the next three months.

“In the meantime, the restructure will involve the state, district and community. We will revamp from the aspects of structure, policy, approaches and programmes, Aamong the elements that would become the focus of the programme’s new structure was the 1Malaysia concept which acted as a unified force between the people of the peninsula, Sabah and Sarawak,” he told the reporters after attending a 1Malaysia Community dialogue in Miri Library here today.

Salleh said for the 1Malaysia concept, he said, the 1Malaysia Community programme would emphasise on the benefits and success of the concept championed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak up to the grassroot level, involving all the races. He said other elements, such as the non governmental organisations, would act to explain government policies and programmes so that the people understood the current issues and not be swayed by negative influences from outside.

He said they also want members who join the programme later to increase their own economic resources. He also added that it would use existing technology such as the internet. Referring to the political scenario in Sarawak, he praised the leadership of Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem who had made many reforms and policy changes for the people’s welfare.

He wanted the people not to be influenced by instigators from outside who only came during the Sarawak state election and brought irrelevant issues with the people of the state. He said so far the Chief Minister’s policies are very clear and bring many benefits to the people. In additional, he also added that the opposition of the parties did not have any clear policies for Sarawak and should be rejected by the people.
