BALIK PULAU, April 10 – The four children whose mother died last week from breast cancer, have caught the attention of UMNO which has come up with a donation of RM20,000 into the National Education Savings Scheme (SSPN-i) for them today. UMNO Welfare Bureau chairman Datuk Shamsul Anuar Nasarah said the money had been deposited into an SSPN-i account to be used for their future educational needs.
“Since the children are still small, the welfare bureau which represents the UMNO President feels their future needs to be looked after. The corporation had also donated RM10,000 to the orphans, bringing the total amount to RM30,000,” Shamsul Anuar, who is also chairman of the National High Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) told reporters after visiting the children in Teluk Kumbar here today.
He said with the opening of the SSPN-i account, it would be easier for people to donate to the children, they will spread the information about it on the social media. The children’s mother Shahrul Faiza Mokhtar, 31, died from breast cancer last Tuesday, while their father, Mohd Idham, 40, died in an accident in June last year.
The children – Siti Nur Nadhirah Mohd Idham, 12, Muhammad Khairul Ikhwan Mohd Idham, 10, Siti Nuramni Hawani Mohd Idham, 3, and Muhammad Fitri Ramadhan Mohd Idham 20 months, are now being looked after by their aunt, Nur Emi Marshita Mokhtar, a factory supervisor.
