KEPALA BATAS, April 13 – The Penang Parti Keadilan Rakyat youth movement (AMK) today lodged a police report on the sale of land belonging to the Penang Regional Development Authority (PERDA) in Kampung Tok Keramat, Seberang Perai Selatan (SPS) allegedly at below market prices.
State AMK strategic director Mohd Radzi Idrus said the police report was made to prompt the authorities to carry out a complete investigation on the sale which could have elements of criminal breach of trust and misdemeanour. He said Penang AMK also wants the police to investigate whether abuse of power was involved because PERDA is a government agency.
“We wish to name PERDA chairman Datuk Shabudin Yahya-cum-Tasek Gelugor Member of Parliament as the individual responsible in causing the land belonging to PERDA being sold at below market prices,” he said after lodging a police report at the Seberang Perai Utara District Police Headquarters (IPD) here, Wednesday.
Other than Mohd Radzi, who is also Tasek Gelugor AMK chief, Penang AMK exco Mohd Ikhwan Nasser Mohamad Isa also lodged a police report on the same matter at the Seberang Perai Selatan IPD in Nibong Tebal near here. Mohd Ikhwan Nasser, who is also Bukit Mertajam AMK chief, said the state AMK would also lodge a report to the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission on the sale of the land soon.
At the press conference on April 1, Shabuddin said PERDA sold the land at a price of RM1.42 million by imposing a condition that the developers built more low cost and affordable houses costing RM42,000 to RM72,000. Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, prior to this, said according to the evaluation of the Inland Revenue Board, the 3.4 ha land was worth RM16.6 million.
