PUTRAJAYA, April 16 – All the accusations and allegations against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on the RM2.6 billion donation issue should be stopped immediately, said Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor. He said a statement issued by Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir, who confirmed the donation to Najib came from his country, should stop all the accusations being levelled against the Prime Minister.
“All this while the accusations and allegations against the Prime Minister were unfounded, made blindly, and I urge all parties to stop making any allegations relating to the issue. We are moving towards a developed country, so any defamatory actions should be stopped immediately for the good of all,” he told reporters after opening the ‘Roda Mania 1.0’ carnival here Saturday.
Yesterday, Adel, when approached by reporters after attending a bilateral meeting with Najib on the sidelines of the 13th Summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation in Istanbul, confirmed that the donation to the Prime Minister was from Saudi Arabia.
Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali had, on Jan 26, cleared Najib of any wrongdoing in relation to investigations into SRC International Sdn Bhd and the RM2.6 billion donation which was deposited into Najib’s personal bank account. Tengku Adnan added that he believed the allegations against Najib would disappear on their own when the people were exposed to the truth following the statement from the Saudi Arabian minister.
