KUALA LUMPUR, April 23 – Items sent through postal and courier services will be checked by the Royal Malaysian Customs Department to curb the smuggling of prohibited goods. Pos Malaysia media relations officer Mohd Asyraf Mohd Fauzi said they would not send items to the recipients until the contents have been checked.
He said the customs will check the contents sent by courier before handing them to Pos Malaysia. He also said that after no prohibited goods are found, the customs will be delivered to the recipients. On March 21, police crippled two drug smuggling syndicates which used courier services and seized 4.8 kg of syabu worth RM1 million in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan and Klang, Selangor. They also arrested three African men involved in the syndicate.
