SIBU, April 27 – Barisan Nasional direct candidate for Dudong Datuk Tiong Thai King said DAP is taking credit for “high impact” decisions of the state government. He said his DAP opponent, Yap Hoi Liong, had been telling voters that the party was responsible for decisions like the abolition of toll on bridges and recognition of the Chinese Unified Education Certificate.
He said he is totally flabbergasted that DAP and Yap are claiming credit for all this. He told this in a media conference here today. He said it was Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem who should be lauded for the decisions which are part of his state transformation policies.
“I agreed with the view that the release of the four Sarawakians kidnapped by a militant group near Pulau Ligitan off Semporna in Sabah on April 1, should be negotiated quietly. There is no need for the family members to bring it up at the ‘ceramah’ of any political parties. The government is doing its best for their release through negotiations. We should not jeopardise their efforts or the safety of the captives,” Tiong, who is chairman of the Sibu Municipal Council said.
