Education Minister Urges Students To Choose Career Wisely

KUALA LUMPUR, April 30 – Students should make a wise decision on their career of choice to prevent wasting time and money, said Education Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid. He said career planning was never easy even for bright students as many had the tendency of making decisions without fully understanding the full extent of what the course behold.

“Making the wrong choice can make students ending up in a career which is no interest to them. Without interest or passion, it is quite difficult to excel in their job,” he said in his opening remarks at the 1st Careers Unlocked! 2016 themed ‘Insights to Kickstart Your Future’ held at University Malaya, here Saturday.

Meanwhile, Mahdzir’s text of speech was read by the ministry’s secretary-general, Tan Sri Dr Madinah Mohamad. The one-day career sharing session for students and graduates is jointly organised by Perdana Fellows Alumni Association and Young Corporate Malaysians.

Mahdzir said Careers Unlocked! is the perfect platform for students and graduates to seek guidance on making the right decision on their career path. He hopes it would become an annual event that continues to grow with more industries being covered and more students involved.
