KUALA LUMPUR, May 10 – In conjunction with the 70th anniversary of UMNO on May 11, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has called on all members to ensure the survival of the party for all time. The UMNO President said UMNO had progressed from the time it was established by a group of thinkers and champions of the community for the sake of the Malays.

“Now, 70 years after its formation, we have one million UMNO members throughout Malaysia. Let’s ensure the continuity of the party that we love, its survival for all time,” the Prime Minister said in the latest post on his Facebook page. Najib also uploaded infographics onto the page to show the growth of UMNO since its inception in 1946.

He said UMNO was born in 1946 after a group of Malays gathered to discuss their future and that of their country. Today, UMNO has progressed to champion the aspirations and excellence of the Malays and Bumiputeras, with one million members continuing to kindle the spirit of the party’s struggle, he said.
