Orang Utan Island To Reopen Tomorrow
BAGAN SERAI, May 12 – The Orang Utan Island in Bukit Merah, here, which was closed since April 11 following the drop in water level at Bukit Merah Lake will be reopened to the public tomorrow. The Orang Utan Island Foundation chief executive officer Dr D. Sabapathy said, the decision was made after the water level in the lake rose to one metre.
He said with the increase of the water level, the boat service that was previously stopped will resume operation as normal. He told this in a press conference at the Orang Utan Island, here Thursday. According to Dr Sabapathy, in conjunction with the reopening of the island, the public would enjoy discounted tickets for a month beginning tomorrow.
He said, during the promotional period, tickets are priced at RM25 per adult compared with the normal price of RM30, and RM15 per child compared with RM18. Dr Sabapathy said, the foundation had incurred losses of about RM250,000 following the temporary closure of the island.
